Highland Capital Management Hires New Credit Trader to Support Firm’s Expanding Structured Products Team

DALLAS, September 9, 2014Highland Capital Management, L.P. (“Highland”), a Dallas-based investment management firm, which together with its affiliates has approximately $19.5 billion in assets under management, announced the hiring of Chris Hayes as a loan and high yield bond trader. Mr. Hayes will be based in Dallas, TX.

Mr. Hayes will serve as Highland’s primary bank loan, high yield bond & CDS trader for Highland’s CLOs, hedge funds, mutual funds and separate accounts trading in the primary and secondary markets. Mr. Hayes will be responsible for trade execution and identifying new trading and investment opportunities for Portfolio Managers.

Mr. Hayes has over eight years of financial market experience, most recently working as a fixed income trader at Neuberger Berman. At Neuberger Berman, Mr. Hayes managed trade flow for both institutional and private client accounts with assets totaling approximately $20 billion. Mr. Hayes’ primary trading activity was in the taxable space in investment grade and high yield corporate debt with exposure also in US treasuries, agencies, mortgages, convertibles, and municipal bonds.  Prior to Neuberger Berman, Mr. Hayes worked as a trader at Federated Investors, Inc. and HSBC Securities. Mr. Hayes began his career in portfolio construction at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

Mr. Hayes earned his B.A. from Georgetown University and his M.B.A. from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France. He holds the Series 7 and 66 FINRA licenses.
