DALLAS – December 15, 2017 – Highland Capital Management, L.P. received a 2017 Best Places to Work in Money Management award, as announced by Pensions & Investments this week. The firm was recognized among managers with 100 to 499 employees, earning a spot on the list for the second time since the awards launched in 2012.

Presented by Pensions & Investments, the global news source of money management, the survey and recognition program is dedicated to identifying and recognizing the best employers in the money management industry.

Highland employees lauded the best-in-class health insurance plan, the daily meals and healthy food that the firm provides, and the frequent firm-wide events as some of the benefits that make Highland a great place to work. But while these perks are appreciated, the firm’s motivation for providing them is what defines Highland’s culture, which encourages and rewards achievement.

“A lot of the perks and benefits at Highland are intended to reduce distractions and enable employees to focus on their work,” said Highland co-founder and president James Dondero. “We aim to provide the best possible environment to foster focus and productivity, which leads to success. And it’s the opportunity to succeed, not the perks, that attracts top talent.”

“All of the firms being recognized this year are leaders when it comes to creating a great place to work,” said P&I Editor Amy Resnick. “It was great to see reflected in the survey comments how significant it is for employees to feel valued by their employer. It shows what really makes a company a best place to work. Employees at these top-ranked firms most often cited their colleagues, the firm’s culture and the benefits as the things that make it a great place to work.”

Pensions & Investments partnered with Best Companies Group, an independent research firm specializing in identifying great places to work, to conduct a two-part survey process of employers and their employees.

The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and
