DALLAS, Oct. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Highland Capital Management, L.P. (“Highland”), a Dallas-based investment management firm, which together with its affiliates has approximately $20 billion in assets under management, announced the hiring of Terry Jones as President of Institutional Products. Mr. Jones will report to James Dondero, Co-Founder and President for Highland Capital Management, and will be based in Dallas, TX.

Bringing more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Jones will lead Highland’s discussions with strategic institutional allocators to drive solutions-oriented business development and serve as a complement to Highland’s broader institutional sales platform.  In addition, Mr. Jones will be integral in aligning portfolio risk management across the Highland platform and optimizing Highland’s risk management infrastructure with respect to identifying, assessing and mitigating applicable risks.

“Highland Capital Management is extremely well-positioned to face the current changing market dynamic. Its experience, infrastructure, and investing capabilities in below-investment-grade credit, distressed, and hedged equities position it to outperform across market cycles. I am excited to work with the Highland team to develop customized client solutions to connect those capabilities with client needs,” said Mr. Jones. “Our interactive risk management capabilities address the rising levels of market volatility and provide our clients with the transparency necessary to understand both risks and opportunities.”

“We expect Terry’s leadership will enhance our risk adjusted performance and expedite client solutions in these increasingly complex markets,” said James Dondero, Co-Founder and President for Highland Capital Management.

Prior to joining Highland as a full-time employee, Mr. Jones served as Lead Director of the Highland Funds and also served on the board of Genworth Life Insurance Company of New York, and the SEI AIC III board, an administrative platform for alternative ’40 act funds.

His professional experience includes roles as President, Founder and CIO of Battersby Capital Management, and Global Head of the Relative Value and Event Driven Sectors of the Hedge Fund Strategies Group of Goldman Sachs where, as a Portfolio Manager, he managed approximately $8 billion in a Fund of Hedge Funds.

Mr. Jones received his BA in Economics from Columbia College and his MBA, Beta Gamma Sigma from Columbia Business School.
